QUIZ FEST AT
JACKSON
On Saturday,
November 4, 2006 the Varsity and JV quizzers traveled a small distance to
Jackson to compete in a district quiz. The quiz was not short on
competition, but our teams came prepared to compete.
The Varsity Quizzers, through great effort in
each match, were able to pull out a second place victory. The four
quizzers on the team worked together to earn their trophy. Two of
the four placed individually. Aaron
Miles came in 6th place with
350 points and Jana Pierce
was in 7th place with 320 points.
Trent Ernst and Stuart Shattuck
were the other two quizzers that made contributions to the overall
team effort that enabled our team to take second.
The JV team won 5 of their 6 rounds to finish
third overall. Craig Pierce
spearheaded the effort to take 5th place individual
trophy (390 points) with Kylie McCalla
very closely behind with a strong seventh place finish (350 points).
Seating a full team for the time this season,
Mason JV enjoyed the support of
Sharidan Barth and Tori Stetler. On
the day, the twentieth question belongs to Tori. In each of the
first two rounds, Tori jumped first and answered correctly on the
last question, scoring 30 points with the third scoring quizzer
bonus.
On one of those rounds, Tori’s
score made all the difference in Mason’s first win over the
Kalamazoo Gamma team. She finished the tournament with 80 individual
points.
Our quizzers are
now preparing to go to the Michigan Invitational on November 18th
to attempt to secure a place on the district teams that will
be traveling to St. Louis in December. We are so very proud of
these children who take time out of their busy schedules to learn
God’s word through the studying of Acts.
Congratulations to the Mason Quiz Teams on their hard work and
success! They will continue to study the book of Acts through the
March 17 District Final Quiz, held right here at Mason First Church
of the Nazarene!
